Capel to be named App. St. HC

According to a Charlotte Observer source, Appalachian State is prepared to promote assistant coach Jason Capel to Head Coach.

Last week, Buzz Peterson left Appalachian St. for the same position at UNC-Wilmington. Peterson hired Caple prior to this past season.

Capel is known by most for his playing days at UNC-Chapel Hill, including an appearance in the 2000 Final Four.

His stint as assistant under Peterson is his only coaching experience. This hire appears to be more so for the recruiting attention the Capel name brings rather than credentials.
